AP Scores... [12 Jul 2007|01:34pm]
[ mood | happy ]
[ music | Taking Pictures - Sam Phillips ]

My two AP Scores are as follows:
AP Music - 4
AP Lit/Comp - 3

And I'm pretty good with them.. of course I'd like the 4 on the English one.. but I know that one of my essays was.. pretty bad(and RUSHED) to say the least...

But I'm so proud - The AP Music score is split - one Sight Singing and Dictation component, one Theory component... I got a 5 on the sight singing/dictation part!!! (not that my AP Music score could help me at all.. but still..)

I haven't updated in a while..

Well, Senior week was AMAZING.  The best week at the beach ever.  I'm in love with our condo!! :D

Dairy Queen is going well...

Harry Potter 5 was great!  And I fell IN LOVE with the three youngest Weasley men all over again... they all looked so good.. especially when Ron was being all protective of Harry and all "good best friend"ish... *thud.*

Umm... Upcoming plans.. yea.. I'm going to Baltimore on Sunday!  Then I go to the beach July 22-25th... Then Six Flags on the 27th.. then Josh Groban concert on August 3rd!!!

Then I move to school on August 18th!!!! :D  I'm so excited!

College... [03 Mar 2007|02:31pm]

[ music | For The Longest Time - Billy Joel ]

In case you didn't see my obnoxious Facebook status update, I'll post it here as well.

I got a really tiny envelope from the Fine Arts department at DeSales today... I started flipping out.. seriously, this thing was the mother of small envelopes.. it hardly felt like there was a piece of paper in it.. I was expecting to open it and just have a bunch of sound waves of laughs and insults come out at me.  And this tiny envelope was impossible to open... I thought it was God telling me to not get my hopes up... so I opened the letter fairly calmly....

"Dear Marissa,

I am pleased to inform you that based on your audition and interview, you have been accepted into the Theater program at DeSales University.  We enjoyed speaking with you and seeing your work and we look forward to your joining our program next fall as a member of the Act 1. company."

HOLY FREAKING COW!  Somebody wants me!!!

I don't know where I'm going yet, though.  I'll get my Muhlenberg letter in a few weeks.

It just feels really good to be wanted :)

[ mood | bored ]
[ music | How To Save a Life - The Fray ]

Skate America tickets for when it is in Reading October 26-28(Friday-Sunday).. this is from the official site:
"All Event prices are $210, $156 and $126.

(All Event does not include Exhibition)
All Event ticket orders are being taken now at 610-898-7231 or at info@sovereigncenter.com
Please leave your name and telephone number.

Individual prices are $77, $57 and $47
Exhibition individual prices are $50, $40 and $30
Individual tickets go on sale April 6."

So from what I understand, a pass to all events and the exhibition skate it costs $250(for the good seats, of course!)... yea.. I really need to get a job.

I REALLY want to see both men's events.. Evan will in all likelyhood be there, Brian Joubert(my French love) might be there, and Johnny's never competed in one before - but if he does good at Worlds(I have a good feeling about it) - then why not?

And I thought I'd share.. this is Brian Joubert's exhibition skate from the 2007 European Championships - where he placed 1st because he is king of quads.. he did 2 in his long program!    Anyway, it's to "You Are Loved" by Josh Groban.. and it will make you fall in love with him:

AH! Josh Groban is coming to the Wacovia Center in Philly on March 1st... tickets went on sale November 18th - Why didn't I know this?!?!? I'm a terrible fan.

But I want to see him in concert!!!

(and I probably wouldn't have play practice scheduled for that night because Mr. White is a Josh Groban fan and will probably be at the concert!)

And now I must go back to reading.

[ music | "Get Your Hands Off My Woman"-Ben Folds(The Darkness cover) ]

Makin' It is tonight.. I have to be there at 6:30 then the show starts at 8!!

Y'all should call me betwen 6:30-7:30ish.. I'll need some nerve calming conversations - and I won't get that with most of the people back stage... or call me after 10.. I'll probably be at 5th Street.. and then maybe go Walmarting :)

I need to go to Walmart first to pick up goat's milk soap, actually.. that stuff PWNS stage make up.. and it makes your skin soft and not dry! :)

And Snelling is handing out the music for Fiddler auditions(December 11-14th).. I grabbed the "Female Lead" song(Matchmaker) and Hodel's song(Far From the Home I Love).. they're both very well in my range.. I want my own fricking microphone this year - I'm a senior gosh darnit!!... My voice teacher wants me to go out for Golde.. I'm not sure yet.. her audition is just the "Female Lead" song, then "Do You Love Me" is for callbacks....

Well, one show at a time I guess.. well - off to opening night!! :D

[ music | Josh Groban - ee-gad! Not Christmas music, for once! ]

Well things are better... slightly. It's still a pretty crappy month.

Makin' It! is this Friday and Saturday... I can't believe it - in September it seemed so far away.. and now my Senior Fall Play is here - scary as anything! I'm not even really nervous - just really really sad.

Some good news: The concert chorus is performing at Hershey Candy Lane after all!! :) Hershey caved because it got so many complaint letters and apparently they started a flat entrence rate to get in Christmas Candy Lane now :\ but they're letting in the performers for free, and guests at $8... mm.. I can't wait! Fudd Ruckers, Chocolate World, Free Hot Chocolate, then $1.50 amazing real hot chocolate with Hershey kisses in it.. mmm.. and it's always like 2 days before Christmas break.. I can't wait until we find out the date!

So my Muhlenberg College scholarship audition is 3 weeks from today. Ballet class, solo tap dance, acting class, 2 monologues, and 2 songs(an art song then The Light In the Piazza).. I'm putting myself through self inflicted intensive Ballet training.. The tap dance is 2 minutes of Jack Johnson's "Upside Down" from Curious George(I was thinking about using a Buble song, but they probably get a ton of that).. I really like using "The Light in the Piazza" as my audition song.. it has some very strong lower range parts but it shows my money notes :) Mr. Mogford was so proud of my choice when I sang it to him at my lesson last week.. I'm not as nervous as I thought I'd be though - I am more excited to be taking these classes and meeting these professors.. it's a good feeling. :)

Well, I should go to bed... goodnight!
PS - I love the new Josh Groban CD... everyone should buy it... "So She Dances" and "February Song" are my favorites so far! ^_^

[ music | "Ruins" - George is Jones ]

Well.. the college app. progress is moving along.. I'm doing the whole fastweb.com scholarship thing.. I'm on my way.

You know what's weird.. I finished A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and I really like it.. but it's weird - I don't think I would have liked it as much a year ago.. for some reason I just don't think I would have gotten into it... we're still reading Catcher in the Rye, but now I'm reading A Clockwork Orange in addition to it.

Fall is in full swing now.. play practices, chorus rehearsals, Christmas music in band and chorus, Halloween decorations popping up, County Chorus auditions NEXT week already! Then District chorus auditions the following Monday.. I really want to make Districts again.. I'd be more prepared for regional auditions this year though and hopefully make it. Anyway.. I want to go to Pumpkin Land(at the Green Valley Nursery!) and have apple cider and pumpkin pie!.. and I want to pick out a pumpkin!.. and go through the corn maze!.. Anyone want to go sometime? :) I love autumn weather.. it gets cold(right around all the chorus auditions, no less!).. but it means I get to wear my mittens, green jacket, jean jacket, and my winter hat! :) Which I love to do. And the leaves are really pretty.. I always notice them, but this year they seem brighter.. some years all the leaves turn brown right away.. I think the crazy temperature changes are making more red/orange/yellow leaves this year.

It makes me miss autumns when I was little when the leaves in my Grandmom's yard would go up to my knees.. we'd "rake" them, jump in them, throw them around, run through them, jump in them some more.. I want to jump in a bit pile of leaves!! Does anyone have a plethora of trees in their yard that need raking? :)

Well.. I have some of Catcher to read yet, then off to bed for me. Goodnight!

Rain, rain go away
come again another day!

So - I doubt we'll be doing our fieldshow.. or wearing our band uniforms even.. there is a home game curse this year!

Anyway - Muhlenberg vs. Wyomissing - big game.. apparently it's nearly sold out!.. we're both undefeated.. the difference is that they have several "star players" when we have a good teamwork team.. so hopefully we win and I don't get sick.

[ music | "I'll Be Seeing You" ]

Soo.. I just got home about 20 minutes ago and I leave in 15 minutes to go to Susquenita for the game tonight.. I have to be honest - I'm not too excited.. PRAY FOR THE FIELDSHOW! We need it!! We only practiced getting off the field 1 time.. and that didn't work out too well... I hope the Susquenita's band has a cool show theme and I hope they come over to out stands to greet us - because I get to talk to them this year because I'm VP of band! :)

Has anyone ever read Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.. I have to get it this weekend and read it for AP English.. I picked it - out of the list given it was the one that I would be least likely to pick up off the shelf, so I thought I'd give it a try.. the other choices were All the Pretty Horses, The Bell Jar, and Angela's Ashes - which all seem interesting, but I'd probably pick any three of those up for a leisure read.

Well - the clock is ticking x__X I'll be back around midnight probably.. wow.. I just had deja vu.. weird.. anyway - bye! ^_^

[ music | "Save Yourself" - Sense Field ]

So.. I'm definitely in the mood for a British movie-a-thon.. Bridget Jones's Diary/BJD The Edge of Reason, Love Actually, Pride & Prejudice.. even 101 Dalmations - they're all British in that movie - even the dogs!! :D I need to do that soon.

We won the football game.. creamed Boyertown in the rain.. it was like 35(ish? not quite sure.. somewhere around there though)to 10.. we're 11th in the area poll - whatever that is - apparently we're a good team this year x_X lol .. I even got into the game.. it felt good to cheer, and to mock the cheerleaders! We didn't march the field show, but we played our opening number from the stands.. and Boyertown's band didn't come, so my first game as Vice President of band and I didn't get to go over and greet the other band! Uhg. Oh well - next week we're going to Susquenita... goodness knows where that is x___X

Well.. not much else happening.. goodnight.

Public Entry, what? - The Ultimate list of graduation songs! [28 Aug 2006|03:14pm]
[ mood | nostalgic ]

Please don't mind the constipated looking lemon where it says my mood.. the point is I feel nostalgic. Moving on.

After trying to make my list of songs I'd be interested in singing at the homecoming assembly or Baccalaureate I started making a separate list of Senior Slide Show Songs.. then I decided to make one master list of all of them and I am asking you, my friends, to assist me on this endeavor... I looked at some websites for some, others I just thought of.. I'm sure I'm missing some obvious songs, so just comment and I'll edit them in.

The Ultimate List of Graduation Songs! )

I put a little * next to the ones I'm interested in singing.. I don't know if "For Good" is in the running.. Angela, is "For Good" allowed to be in the running? I don't want to tread on your turf.. anyway, tell me what you think :)

Please suggest some songs ^_^

Ban on "Pro-Homosexual Drama" [10 Dec 2004|02:36am]
[ mood | blank ]

http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1369643,00.html?gusrc=rss
Grrrrrr!!!
Dumb Bible-belt along the south is trying to take over the nation... riding it of all the gay people.. because as long as they're gone, all the evil people are gone right? Because seeing A Chorus Line, or reading something by Shakespeare that might have a double meaning to it always causes lifes end, and terrorist attacks to occur, and the national debt to drop daily
The bill is presented from a guy from Alabama
(Sorry if I offend anyone, but I'm up late working on homework with a bad cold, and reading this got me ticked.)

Here's one part that really annoys me:
"Cutting off funds to theatre departments that put on A Chorus Line or Cat on a Hot Tin Roof may look like censorship, and smell like censorship, but "it's not censorship", Allen hastens to explain. "For instance, there's a reason for stop lights. You're driving a vehicle, you see that stop light, and I hope you stop." Who can argue with something as reasonable as stop lights? Of course, if you're gay, this particular traffic light never changes to green."

A. Cutting off funds!! That is B.S... if someone wants to put on that show it better be funded!.. because if someone puts on another show it'll be funded, so what's the difference!
B. "It's not censorship"!! Well if it's not censorship than I know something that it is - a violation of the first amendment!
C. "if you're gay, this particular traffic light never changes to green" WTF!!!???!!! Honestly! I swear, these republicans we have in wouldn't care if the person had the cure to every cancer, aids, world hunger, and the common cold - if you're gay you're 'stuck behind a red light'
and D. Who is to say that it's "Pro-Homosexual drama"?!? Who draws the line?!? huh?

Anyone want to move... Paris maybe... or New Zealand - I never hear anything bad about things over there.. and LOTR was filmed there.. double the reasons - lets go! :D Right now! :P

Thank You The4tr3_phre4k for posting that link in your lj.
